I would like to take the time to express my wish that you are all well and are finding ways to get through this. It is a strange and challenging time for us all.
As many of you may now know, Real Estate is one of the services that has been identified as essential. We as an industry have ways to help those who need to buy or sell their homes, while minimizing risks of obtaining the virus and following the guidelines set out by the medical community.
Tools that can be used to help are video meetings and consultations, virtual showings, and the electronic signing of documents.
Some of the other precautions that have been put in place are the restriction of physical showings. Before the quarantine, we were able to book one-hour windows for a showing, and they could overlap with showings being held by other agents. Now, the showings can only be booked for 30 minutes and are not allowed to overlap with other showings.
When funds need to be transferred, as an example, the deposit for a purchase, funds can be transferred via wire transfer, etc.
As well, we ask that during the showings, clients keep their hands in their pockets and do not touch anything in the homes. Gloves and hand sanitizer are being used. Since they are In short supply, if clients have these items as well as masks, I ask that they bring them.
I as an agent, have always offered to drive clients to help make the showings more efficient and allow clients time to talk and write notes while we are driving around. For relocation clients, I would tour the neighbourhoods to provide them with more information and to get a feel for the neighbourhood.
Now, I will not be doing this and will be practicing social distancing. My goal is to help you out, without putting you at more risk than necessary.
If you have questions, want to keep up to date with what is happening in the market, or want to have a free home check-up, I am here to help you. There is no obligation and you do not have to be buying or selling now.
I am a Seniors Real Estate Specialist and as someone who did care for an elder parent, I know first-hand that issues can arise that necessitate a move. It is more challenging now to work through this.
